Freshman Academic Scholarships

Freshman academic scholarships at Northern State University are based on a combination of high school academic achievement, ACT scores, extracurricular involvement and community service. Scholarship amounts may vary from a $250 award for one year to a four-year full in-state tuition and fees award. Whatever the amount you receive, a scholarship is a valuable asset in helping you pay for your educational expenses.

 

President’s Meritorious Scholarship

 

Four year full in-state tuition and fee scholarship for incoming freshmen.  Composite ACT 28 or above or top 10% of class.  Finalists will be invited to campus for interview.  Must maintain NSU 3.0 GPA.  Total value of scholarship is $20,000., $5,000. for 4 years

 

Vice Presidents Scholarship

For incoming freshmen with an ACT composite score of 27 or top 15% of class.  Total value $7,000-$8,000.

 

Dean’s Scholarship

 

$5,000-$6,000 scholarship for incoming freshmen.  Must have ACT score or 25 and be in the top 25% of your class.

 

Academic Distinction Scholarship

 

Scholarship amount varies between $500.00-$1,000 each year.  Must be in the top 1/3 of class and ACT score or 21 or higher.

Students are encouraged to contact individual departments for information on their scholarship opportunities. Deadlines and scholarship amounts may vary.

Other Scholarships

The NSU Financial Aid Office posts additional scholarship announcements from resources outside the University on a bulletin board outside of the Enrollment Services Office in Dacotah Hall and in the What's Up. Many departments also post announcements from outside resources.
